Our Vision

The mission of HOPE Ministries is to tell the good news of deliverance to the spiritually bankrupt, those held in the bondage of addiction, those who are imprisoned physically and/or emotionally because of abuse, and the brokenhearted who have been blinded by Satan’s lies. Our goal to accomplish this mission of empowering and promoting healing is by offering communication, comfort, and consulting.

To be a ministry that is dedicated to modeling, teaching Christ as the answer, and to show that peace and serenity can be found in an authentic life in Christ when led by the Spirit.

Our Values

We find value in the healing and saving power of God, the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, and the power to live out the character of Christ by helping others find his love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness.

Our Story

Hope Ministries started its roots in Dr. Dan Leaf’s work at Southside in 1999 when Southside appointed (Dan) as a Local Missions Missionary to the hurt and broken in Fort Worth. Southside later hired Kathy Leaf, Dan’s wife to join him as a partner in this ministry. After completing 20 years of service at the Southside Church of Christ, they wanted to continue this ministry duplicating it through North, Central, and South America. HOPE Ministries (Heavenly Options for Pain and Emptiness) was registered as anIRS 501-C 3 on 11/02/2018. Dan and Kathy Leaf retired from ministry, at the Southside Church of Christ, in Fort Worth, TX, at the end of 2018 and started their transition to this new vision and aspect of ministry. They got off to a good start preparing materials to be presented to Schools of Preaching and workshops in North and South America. They purchased an RV so that they could be mobile in order to work with other congregations in establishing HOPE Ministries. Unexpectedly, Covid hit and their plans were no longer realistic. During that time, Kathy was diagnosed with cancer and all three of her brothers were placed on hospice and subsequently passed within a period of eighteen months. Their world changed and their dream for HOPE Ministries seemed to fade.

During this time, Stephen Leaf completed his Masters in Ministry from Sunset International School of Biblical Studies (SIBI), in Lubbock, Texas. Recently, God has placed within Stephen a calling to full-time ministry. They are eager to see Stephen take this ministry to the next level. They realize that the old model of ministry that they used will no longer be as effective reaching the lost as a new approach embracing new opportunities availed by new technology. Stephen is considering the possibilities of global connections through the vast opportunities availed through the internet. We are excited to see Stephen be given an opportunity to revive this ministry and take it to the next level.

Our Ministers

Dr. Leaf is the Founder and Spiritual Advisor of H.0.P.E. Ministries. Out of all his titles his preferred title is Servant of Christ. He served as a missionary in Quito, Ecuador 1988-1993. Shortly after returning to the states, Dan worked as the Local Missions Missionary with Southside Church of Christ. There he faithfully served dowtown Fort Worth through counseling, local evangelism, partnering with local agencies to help those in recovery, and the recovery ministry - HOPE (Heavenly Options for Pain and Emptiness).

Stephen Leaf, M.B.S.

Stephen Leaf is the Local Missionary of H.O.P.E Ministries. He operates as the hands and feet bringing hope to the those who are broken and lost in addiction. He has been the volunteer Recovery Minister at Burleson Church of Christ since 2021. He grew up as a missionary, serving alongside his parents, in Quito, Ecuador and served on several medical missions trip since.
